Ashley Gaines

My name is Ashley Gaines and I’m 19 years old. Ever since I was a child, I’ve always been fascinated with all things related to outer space. I always found myself trying to wrap my head around crazy ideas. Take a light year for instance, a light year is how far light travels in one year. Now look at the speed of light, 2.99×10^8 meters per second, that’s insanely fast; that’s also in one second, to actually put a number to how far light goes in one year, it’s 9.43×10^15 meters. In order to actually put that distance into perspective, 1.48×10^11 meters is from Earth to the sun. Super insane stuff like this is what I enjoy learning about. My love for outer space is what prompted me to pursue a degree in aeronautical engineering. I want to be able to build something that is able to explore the vastness of outer space. Most of all, I Just want to share what I love with others who have the same passion.
